Bajaj has introduced a new version of the Chetak electric scooter in India, known as the Chetak Urbane. Priced at Rs 1.15 lakh for the standard variant and Rs 1.21 lakh for the Tecpac-equipped version (all prices, ex-showroom), the Chetak Urbane, in its standard configuration, shares a similar price point with the Chetak Premium, but it comes with some notable differences in features.

Firstly, the Chetak Urbane offers a drum brake in the front, contrasting with the disc setup found on the Premium model. Despite having the same 2.9 kWh battery, the Urbane has a slightly reduced range of 113 km compared to the Premium’s 126 km as per IDC standards. The Urbane also features a lower-power charger, with a rating of 650W compared to the Premium’s 800W, resulting in a longer charging time of 4 hours and 50 minutes versus the Premium’s 3 hours and 50 minutes.

In terms of performance, the standard Chetak Urbane shares the same top speed of 63 kmph as the Chetak Premium, but this can be increased to 73 kmph with the Tecpac. The standard Urbane model offers only a single ride mode and limited app-based functions, while the Tecpac-equipped variant includes additional features such as a sport mode, hill start assist, a reverse mode, and enhanced app-based functions. However, the Chetak Premium remains the exclusive model featuring sequential turn signals.
