Bengaluru-based startup Simple Energy has announced the upcoming launch of its new electric scooter, the Dot One. The company claims that the Dot One will be priced under Rs 1 lakh, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers. The Dot One will be a stripped-down version of the company’s existing One e-scooter, sans the removable battery pack. This will result in a battery capacity of 3.7kWh and a claimed IDC range of 160km. While output figures are yet to be revealed, the Dot One is expected to use a slightly less powerful motor than the One’s unit, which is rated for a claimed 8.5kW and 72Nm.
Not much else is known about the Simple Dot One, but it is likely to retain the same design as the One. The company claims that it will have ‘over 30 litres’ of storage, although the exact figure hasn’t been mentioned. Simple says that the Dot One will feature a touchscreen TFT dash with Bluetooth connectivity. It is expected to be the same unit as the One, as both scooters share the same platform. At the claimed sub-Rs 1 lakh price, the Dot One will have very few rivals in terms of price, except for the Ola S1 X. Simple has used both ‘launch’ and ‘debut’ in its literature, which leaves things a little unclear regarding the exact nature of the December 15 event. More details are expected to be revealed closer to the date.
Currently, Simple has delivered just 40 One electric scooters pan-India since its launch in May 2023. The company hopes that the Dot One will help it boost its sales and gain a foothold in the competitive electric scooter market.
