Set to be launched in India next month, the BYD Seal is expected to offer a claimed range of up to 700km on a single charge. Authorized dealerships of BYD India have commenced unofficial bookings for the forthcoming all-electric sedan, following its showcase at last year’s Auto Expo in Delhi.
The BYD Seal marks the Chinese automaker’s third product introduction in India and is built on the brand’s e-Platform 3.0 architecture featuring highly efficient battery packs. It is anticipated to be available with two battery pack options: a 61.4kWh and an 82.5kWh unit, with the long-range version boasting the maximum driving range.
In terms of performance, the Seal is capable of accelerating from zero to 100kmph in just 3.8 seconds, with an aero drag coefficient of 0.219Cd. The model is slated to start arriving at dealerships nationwide soon.
Upon its release, the BYD Seal will contend with electric vehicles like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Volvo C40 Recharge, as well as other conventional ICE sedans in its segment.
