At the annual Nio Day event held at the Xi’an Olympic Sports Center Stadium, the renowned Chinese premium electric vehicle brand, Nio, unveiled its ET9 smart electric flagship sedan. The Nio ET9 boasts the latest advancements in technology, presenting a combination of flagship-style exterior, spacious interior, immersive experience, efficient recharging, and smart technologies. Specifically designed for the new generation of high-end business users, the ET9 aims to offer a sophisticated, comfortable, and safe smart electric executive flagship.
Equipped with China’s first Full-Domain 900V Architecture, the ET9 features an impressive voltage of 925V, a charging peak power of 600kW, and a charging peak current of 765A. The 900V ultra-fast charging and swapping platform facilitates rapid recharging through a 3-minute battery swap or extends the range by 255km with a 5-minute charge.
In terms of dimensions, the Nio ET9 measures 5,325mm in length, 2,016mm in width, 1,620mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250mm. The four-seat layout, with ‘Sky Island’ and ‘Executive Bridge’ levels of first-class comfort, features a rear seating area with a 360-degree versatile tray table, adjustable at any angle. The rear seats incorporate 24 self-developed patented technologies, offering a maximum backrest adjustment angle of 45 degrees, a seat cushion width of 582mm, and 11 adjustments with one click. Additionally, the seven electric sunshades can be activated with a single click.
The SkyRide Intelligent Chassis System, a highlight of the ET9, integrates steer-by-wire, rear-wheel steering, and full active suspension, making it the world’s only driven-by-wire intelligent chassis. Nio asserts that the ET9 delivers a driving experience comparable to traveling on a flat surface.
The ET9 features a self-developed intelligent system supported by Nio’s super computing platform, Adam 2.0, which covers computing functions in six major areas. Nio has introduced its first 5Nm automotive-grade chip for AD, the NX9031, ensuring a powerful combination of computing power and proprietary algorithms. The vehicle operating system, SkyOS, forms the “soul” of the executive flagship, encompassing vehicle control, intelligent driving, cockpit, and mobile connectivity.
Safety is a paramount focus for the ET9, with a torsional stiffness of 52,600Nm/deg and adherence to aviation-grade safety standards. The vehicle provides safety redundancy in seven key systems of smart EVs, setting a global safety benchmark for executive flagships.
William Li, Nio’s founder, chairman, and CEO, commented on the ET9, stating, “The Nio ET9 comprehensively showcases Nio’s R&D strengths and achievements. Integrated with over 100 Nio full-stack technologies, the Nio ET9 reaches a new height of innovation and technological development.”
The Nio ET9 is open for pre-orders in China, with delivery scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.
