The globally unveiled new-generation Renault Duster, set for release in India, is expected to undergo significant revisions to both its exterior and interior. There are indications that it may introduce a hybrid petrol engine option for the Indian market. Renault has officially presented the latest iteration of the Duster, anticipated to debut in India around 2025. The upcoming model promises contemporary exterior styling, a feature-rich interior, and new engine choices.
In terms of exterior design, the Renault Duster, or the rebranded Dacia Duster, exudes a rugged aesthetic. Notable features include a robust and upright hood with ridges, Y-shaped LED daytime running lights, updated front and rear profiles, and wraparound LED taillights with a Y-shaped motif. Additional design elements comprise bold wheel arches, functional roof rails, rear door handles mounted on the pillars, an extended roof spoiler, and aggressive front and rear bumpers.
Inside the cabin, the new Duster showcases a significant departure from its predecessor. The dashboard now boasts a standalone 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 360-degree surround-view camera, an advanced driver assistance system suite, Y-shaped air conditioning vents, a fully digital instrument cluster, steering wheel-mounted controls, a redesigned steering wheel, a new gear selector dial integrated into the center console, and updated seat upholstery.
In terms of powertrain options, the international version will offer three engine choices: a 1.6-liter petrol-hybrid, a 1.2-liter petrol-hybrid, and a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine with LPG compatibility for specific markets. However, it’s likely that the first two options will be available with the forthcoming Duster in India.
Upon its release, the Renault Duster will compete with other mid-size SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Citroen C3 Aircross, and MG Astor in the segment.
