Kawasaki had been anticipated to unveil the new Eliminator 450 cruiser at the recently concluded India Bike Week event in Goa. However, the company surprised by launching the new W175 Street instead. In response to inquiries about the anticipated entry of the Eliminator 450 into the Indian market, it has been revealed that the motorcycle is slated for launch between February and March 2024.
Interestingly, Kawasaki has received numerous inquiries from Indian bikers about the Eliminator 450. While the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has been serving cruiser enthusiasts with the 650cc Vulcan S, many riders find it somewhat inaccessible due to its weight of 235kg (kerb). Consequently, the Eliminator, with a weight of just 176kg, is positioned as a more accessible alternative to the Vulcan S.
The new Eliminator 450 is equipped with a 451cc parallel-twin engine, essentially a longer-stroke version of the existing Ninja 400’s 399cc engine. Generating approximately 49bhp, the cruiser is paired with a six-speed gearbox. Notable features include 32mm larger throttle bodies, a larger 5.8-litre airbox compared to the Ninja 400, a steel trellis frame, an 18-16-inch wheel combination, telescopic forks, dual springs, and a single disc brake at both ends.
Upon its launch, the Kawasaki Eliminator 450 will primarily compete with the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. The mode of entry into the Indian market, whether through CKD (completely knocked down) or CBU (completely built-up unit), will significantly influence the pricing of the motorcycle
