LCR Racing Team has unveiled its 2024 MotoGP contenders, led by newcomer Johann Zarco and seasoned rider Takaaki Nakagami. The team showcased their distinct liveries at the launch event.
In line with their tradition, LCR opted for a dual approach with their MotoGP liveries for the 2024 season. One Honda R213V will feature the iconic Castrol colors, while the other will display the branding of Japanese petroleum company Idemitsu.
The unveiling began with Zarco’s bike adorned in the familiar green, white, and red Castrol colors. Later, the focus shifted to Nakagami’s Idemitsu-backed bike, signaling a new chapter for the seasoned Japanese rider. Both liveries underwent subtle tweaks compared to previous years, with Zarco’s bike sporting a distinctive stripe pattern, adding uniqueness to the design.
In the 2023 MotoGP season, LCR secured Honda’s sole victory at the Circuit of the Americas, thanks to Alex Rins. However, with Rins moving to the factory Yamaha team, Zarco has joined the LCR squad. Zarco, fresh off his maiden MotoGP win at Phillip Island in 2023, brings experience and talent to the team, aiming to elevate Honda back to championship contention.
Meanwhile, Nakagami provides continuity for Honda’s satellite team, entering his seventh year of competition. In the 2023 standings, he emerged as Honda’s second-best performer, trailing only Marc Marquez, the six-time champion on the factory-entered RC213V.
Both Zarco and Nakagami are preparing for next week’s final pre-season test in Qatar, gearing up for the highly anticipated 2024 campaign set to commence in the Middle Eastern nation on March 10th.
