Maruti Suzuki has started exporting the 5-door version of the Jimny, manufactured in India, to Australia. Sold as the Jimny XL, the 5-door model comes with significant updates, notably the inclusion of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), aligning with Australia’s safety regulations. This version complements the existing 3-door model, making Australia one of the few markets offering both configurations.

Key Features:

  • ADAS Suite: The Australia-spec 5-door Jimny introduces an ADAS suite, featuring Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, high-beam assist, and weaving alert.
  • Compliance Requirement: The inclusion of ADAS is mandated by Australian safety norms, making it a prerequisite for passenger and commercial vehicles.
  • Safety Standards: Australia mandated ADAS features, including AEB, to enhance vehicle safety and conformity with NCAP safety standards.
  • Powertrain: The 5-door Jimny in Australia shares the same powertrain as its Indian counterpart – a 1.5-liter petrol engine, available with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
  • Export Hub: India stands out as the sole manufacturing and export hub for the Jimny 5-door model.
