Mercedes-Benz has presented its AMG GT6 concept at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai, where it will remain on exhibit until May 2024. Visitors can engage with a video presentation of the car using the provided QR Code. Mercedes previously unveiled their Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 electric concept at the same venue, as part of their collaboration with NMACC to offer exclusive luxury experiences. Another intriguing concept recently showcased by Mercedes in India, during the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, was the Mercedes EQG with its remarkable 360-degree on-the-spot turning capability.
The GT6 concept highlights include an integrated spoiler and chrome-finished wheels, along with a powerhouse driven by a 585hp, 800Nm V8 engine. Its design language has influenced the aesthetics of newer AMG models. So, what exactly is the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT6 concept?
Originating from the Gran Turismo 6 video game in 2013, the concept has since been featured at numerous automotive events. It pays tribute to the legendary 300 SL racing car, offering a modern reinterpretation of its iconic radiator grille, now equipped with LEDs instead of traditional louvres. Moreover, the AMG GT6 concept features a distinctive front-hinged bonnet and an advanced LED headlamp arrangement.
With its sleek, low-slung body, gullwing doors, and turbine-like chrome-finished center-locking wheels, the concept boasts impressive aesthetics. The rear design showcases a boat tail design with an integrated diffuser and a retractable spoiler, complemented by a narrow LED strip running horizontally between the eight-exhaust tailpipe setup. Interestingly, this concept served as Bruce Wayne’s (Batman) vehicle in the 2017 Justice League movie.
This 11-year-old concept has also provided a glimpse into the future of several new AMG GT models, from the new Mercedes-AMG GT to the SL 55. Under the hood, the AMG GT6 concept packs a punch with its 585hp, 800Nm V8 engine, akin to the one found in the AMG E 63 S.
