MG Motor India, a joint venture between Chinese automaker SAIC Motor and Indian conglomerate JSW Group, has announced a series of relief measures for its customers who have been affected by Cyclone Michaung, which hit the southern states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh last week. The cyclone caused widespread damage to life and property, including vehicles, due to heavy rainfall, strong winds, and flooding.
As part of its after-sales initiatives, MG Motor India is offering extensions on roadside assistance, annual maintenance contracts, warranties, and extended warranties for customers whose vehicles were damaged by the floods and whose services are expiring between December 1 and December 31, 2023. The brand is also providing round-the-clock assistance through a dedicated 24×7 helpline number – 1800 100 6464 – for the affected customers. These emergency measures will remain active until the situation normalises, the company said in a statement.
In addition, MG Motor India has deployed a quick response team in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, which was severely impacted by the cyclone. The team will provide on-ground support to the customers and help them with home visits by the service team. The company-trained technicians will assess the condition of the vehicles on-site and coordinate the towing of the affected cars to the nearest workshop. The brand has also arranged dedicated trucks to ensure a swift and efficient towing process.
MG Motor India is not the only automaker to extend service support to its customers in the wake of Cyclone Michaung. Other brands, such as Audi, Renault, Volkswagen, Mahindra, Tata Motors, and more, have also announced similar measures, such as free check-ups, discounts on repairs, and extensions on services.
Meanwhile, MG Motor India has also launched a ‘December Fest’ event, offering massive discounts and benefits across its range of vehicles in India. The offers are valid until December 31, 2023. The MG Astor, the brand’s latest SUV, is available with benefits up to Rs 1 lakh off the price, along with an additional exchange bonus worth Rs 50,000. The MG Gloster, the brand’s flagship SUV, also comes with up to Rs 1 lakh in total benefits and the exchange perk.
MG Motor India is a century-old legacy that offers a wide range of luxury SUV cars in India. The brand operates one manufacturing plant in Halol, Gujarat, which has a capacity of 80,000 units per year. The brand entered the Indian market in 2019 with the launch of the MG Hector, and has since expanded its portfolio with the MG ZS EV, the MG Gloster, and the MG Astor. The brand plans to launch more models in the future, including electric and hybrid vehicles.
