MG Motor India currently employs approximately 34% women, a percentage it aims to increase by 2025. Recently, the company reduced the ex-showroom prices of all its models. During a recent visit to MG Motor India’s plant in Halol, Gujarat, we observed women working across various departments, from the body shop workshop to final product testing.
The company’s overall workforce, including both the Halol plant and the Gurgaon office, consists of around 34% women. According to Yeshwinder Patial, Senior Director of Human Resources at MG Motor India, the company aims to raise this figure to 50% by the end of CY2025.
MG Motor India has implemented a unique employment program called ‘Drive her back’ to encourage the re-entry of women into the workforce after extended career breaks, marriage breaks, or maternity leaves. This one-year program invites experienced women with a minimum of two years of work experience to resume their careers. Following a structured review of projects, top-performing women may be absorbed into the company’s workforce, subject to performance and vacancy availability.
In addition, the automaker is celebrating its centenary year by introducing revised prices for its 2024 range of models, which are now available on their website.
