Achieving a remarkable milestone, the new Tata Nexon secures a full five-star safety rating in the upgraded GNCAP tests, maintaining the high safety standards set by the Indian automaker. This accolade solidifies the Nexon’s position as one of the safest compact SUVs, a reputation it has held since the pre-facelift version also earned a five-star rating.
Scoring 32.22 out of 34 for adult occupancy protection and 44.52 out of 49 for child occupancy protection, the Tata Nexon demonstrates its capability to provide comprehensive safety across various impact tests, including front, side, and side pole impacts.
Recently, the GNCAP declared the Tata Safari and Harrier as the safest cars among Indian manufacturers, with the Nexon closely following suit. Additionally, the Nexon meets the UN127 and GTR9 requirements for pedestrian protection.
In terms of safety features, the new Tata Nexon is equipped with an impressive array of features, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), seatbelt reminders, and ISOFIX mounts as standard. Furthermore, it boasts additional safety enhancements such as a blind view monitor, 360-degree surround camera, front and rear parking sensors, hill hold control, auto-dimming Internal Rear View Mirror (IRVM), and fog lamps with cornering function.
Mohan Savarkar, Chief Product Officer at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “Safety is ingrained in our DNA, and we are proud to earn the prestigious five-star rating from Global NCAP for the new Nexon as per the enhanced 2022 protocol. It was the first car in India to receive a five-star rating from GNCAP in 2018 and it upholds this legacy, showcasing our unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence. With this feat, all our new SUVs have now received the GNCAP five-star rating certifications and have raised the bar for safer SUVs in India. We are dedicated to delivering vehicles that not only surpass expectations but also prioritize the safety of every passenger on the road.”
