Renault Megane E-Tech has been spotted in India for the first time. The Megane E-Tech, Renault’s offering in the electric vehicle segment, competes with models like Hyundai Kona Electric and is available in various European markets.
Built on the CMF-EV platform, the Megane E-Tech offers multiple battery pack options. Although details about its potential launch in India remain undisclosed, Renault has imported this particular unit for internal testing and assessment.
The Megane E-Tech is essentially a production version of the 2020 Megane eVision concept, featuring a design that’s slightly toned down. It includes cladding along the lower periphery and contrasting inserts on the bumpers, depending on the chosen exterior color.
Inside, the Megane E-Tech boasts Renault’s OpenR display, which incorporates a 12.3-inch instrument display and a 12-inch portrait-style infotainment touchscreen.
Offering two battery pack choices – 40kWh and 60kWh – and two motor outputs, the Megane E-Tech delivers a base power of 130hp and 250Nm, with a more powerful option delivering 218hp and 300Nm. Renault claims a range of up to 470km depending on the battery configuration.
In terms of competition, the Megane E-Tech primarily targets European markets and competes with models like the Hyundai Kona Electric, the Mini Cooper SE, and the Kia Niro EV.
Regarding Renault’s plans for the Indian market, the company is exploring the possibility of introducing an entry-level EV based on the CMF-A EV platform. Additionally, Renault is preparing to launch the all-new Duster in India in 2025.
