Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated AMG E 53, featuring a new hybrid powertrain and available in both sedan and estate body styles. The global debut will precede its launch in India later this year.
Under the hood, the Mercedes AMG E 53 boasts a robust 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline six-cylinder gasoline engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 593bhp and 750Nm of torque. Power is transmitted through a nine-speed automatic gearbox to all wheels via the 4Matic system. The car accelerates from 0-100kmph in just 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 280kmph. Additionally, a race start function boosts power to 602bhp with peak torque of 750Nm.
Equipped with a 28.6kWh battery pack, the AMG E 53 offers an electric-only range of up to 97km, with standard 11kW charging or optional 60kW DC fast charging, charging the pack from 0-80% in approximately 20 minutes.
Sporting a more aggressive design, the AMG E 53 features a blacked-out grille with AMG badging, enlarged air dams, and redesigned front LED headlamps. Notable exterior updates include a black rear diffuser, optional 21-inch alloy wheels with red brake calipers, double tailpipe trims, and broader wheel arches.
Inside, the cabin boasts a 14.4-inch infotainment screen with mobile connectivity, MBUX superscreen layout, handcrafted leather seat upholstery with red stitching, AMG-specific performance steering wheel in Nappa-leather, AMG sports seats, and an optional passenger screen.
