The Mahindra Thar five-door, which has long been anticipated, is set to hit the market in Q2 FY 2025, offering competition to the Maruti Jimny. Expected to be available in both petrol and diesel variants, this SUV will boast additional features compared to its three-door counterpart.With a larger wheelbase than the three-door model, the five-door Thar will provide increased cabin space. Its design enhancements will include a new front radiator grille, LED headlamps with DRLs, and larger 19-inch alloy wheels. Notably, two extra seats will be added in the third row.Spy shots have revealed further interior upgrades, including a larger infotainment screen with wireless mobile connectivity, a single-pane sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a digital instrument cluster, and a 360-degree camera. Additional features such as a rear center armrest, front parking sensors, and an electric fuel lid opener are also expected.Under the hood, the Mahindra Thar five-door is anticipated to offer a choice between a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 200bhp/380Nm of torque and a 2.2-liter diesel engine generating 172bhp/400Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed torque converter unit.
