The global debut of the Aprilia RS 457 took place earlier this year, and there are strong indications that the sportbike will be officially launched at India Bike Week 2023 (IBW) over the upcoming weekend. Aprilia India has teased a major announcement at IBW 2023 through a social media video, fueling speculation that the pricing details may be revealed during the motorcycle festival. The RS 457 was initially showcased in India in September, just ahead of the MotoGP Grand Prix of India.
Anticipated deliveries are expected to commence early next year. Produced at Piaggio India’s Baramati plant in Maharashtra, the sportbike will be manufactured for both domestic and global markets, including Europe, the US, and Canada.
The Aprilia RS 457 is equipped with a 457 cc liquid-cooled DOHC parallel-twin engine, delivering 47 bhp and mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Featuring a twin-spar aluminum frame, the motorcycle is equipped with USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is facilitated by disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, complemented by traction control. The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.
Noteworthy features include a 5-inch TFT screen, multiple riding modes, and a quickshifter. The RS 457 shares styling cues with the RS 660, featuring a split headlamp, split seats, and a sharply styled fairing, maintaining the distinct look of the Aprilia RS family. With local production, competitive pricing is expected. Aprilia plans to distribute the RS 457 through Motoplex dealerships across India.
The imminent arrival of the Aprilia RS 457 adds excitement to the coming weeks, as it enters the market to compete with the new Yamaha R3 scheduled for arrival on December 15. The motorcycle will also face competition from the KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 400 in its segment.
