BMW Motorrad has initiated a recall in North America for the R 18 and R 18 Transcontinental models due to a headlight issue. The affected motorcycles, manufactured between 2021 and 2024, account for over 2,000 units in the US.
The problem identified by the company pertains to the attachment points for the low beam, which may break. This breakage could result in the headlight reflector dislodging from its intended position, potentially causing inadequate illumination or blinding oncoming traffic due to the reflector’s unusual angle.
Owners may notice signs of the problem, such as a rattling noise within the headlight or a vibrating low beam. While BMW has not yet provided a solution, the company is actively working to address the issue promptly. Affected owners will be notified, and replacement headlights will likely be provided at no cost.
As of now, BMW Motorrad has not issued a recall for the same models in India. Further updates on this matter will be provided as developments unfold.
