BYD India has garnered 200 bookings for its Seal electric sedan, marking its third electric vehicle offering after the E6 and Atto 3 models. The response to the BYD Seal, particularly given its status as an electric sedan, has been noteworthy, attributed in part to its appealing pricing. With variants named Dynamic, Premium, and Performance, the BYD Seal is priced between Rs. 41 lakh and Rs. 53 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Furthermore, BYD India has introduced several enticing offers for customers booking the BYD SEAL until March 31, 2024. These incentives include a 7 kW home charger with installation, a 3 kW portable charging box, a BYD SEAL VTOL (Vehicle to Load) mobile power supply unit, six years of roadside assistance, and a complimentary inspection service. The company aims to extend its sales and service network to cover 90% of the market.
According to BYD India, the bookings reflect India’s growing interest in luxurious and high-performance electric vehicles. Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business at BYD India, expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic response and reiterated the company’s commitment to meeting the rising demand for electric mobility.
The BYD Seal offers two battery pack options: a 61.44 kWh and an 82.56 kWh battery pack. Equipped with Cell to Body (CTB) and Intelligence Torque Adaptation Control (iTAC) technologies, the electric sedan operates on the cutting-edge e-Platform 3.0. It is available in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, with the latter featuring adaptive dampers. The Seal boasts impressive ranges of up to 510 km and 650 km, depending on the battery pack and drive model.
Featuring advanced safety and convenience features, the BYD Seal includes nine airbags, traction control, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, powered driver and co-driver seats, heated and ventilated seats, a 15.6-inch touchscreen, and dual-zone climate control as standard. Higher-tier variants offer additional features such as a head-up display, torque vectoring system, memory functions for door mirrors, driver seat memory, and faster charging support.
Globally, the BYD Seal competes with models like the BMW i4 and Tesla Model 3. In India, the Seal is priced significantly lower, ranging from Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 32 lakh less than the i4. Additionally, with Tesla absent from the Indian market, the BYD Seal currently has no direct competitors.
