In mid-2023, we reported that Hero was in the process of developing two new 125cc bikes, one of which was glimpsed in a test image. The bike is set for an official unveiling at the Hero World event on Tuesday, but an image has surfaced just ahead of the event.

The leaked image reveals that the bike will be named the Xtreme 125R, positioning Hero to compete with models such as the TVS Raider, Bajaj Pulsar NS125, and the Honda SP125.

From the available details, the Xtreme 125R features an aggressive, sporty design with a sizable fuel tank flanked by prominent side shrouds. The LED headlamp contributes to the bike’s aggressive appearance, reminiscent of larger motorcycles like the Kawasaki Z1000 and the new Honda CB1000 Hornet. The twin pilot LED lights on top provide a unique identity, while sleek LED indicators enhance the overall aesthetic.

In profile, silver-colored body panels enhance the premium feel, and a split seat setup adds to the sporty look. The exhaust design distinguishes itself from other Hero 125cc motorcycles, adopting a more youthful appearance.

While specific engine details are not yet clear, the leaked image suggests that the Xtreme 125R shares its motor with existing models like the Hero Glamour, producing 10.8hp and 10.6Nm of power. Given its competition with the sporty TVS Raider, which boasts 11.4hp, there might be a slight increase in the power figure.

The chassis details remain unclear, but the tall tail section indicates a different rear subframe compared to Hero’s existing 125cc models. The bike’s suspension consists of a telescopic fork and a monoshock, with a front disc brake and a rear drum brake.

Pricing details are yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to be competitive with the TVS Raider, which is priced between Rs 95,000-1.03 lakh (ex-showroom). Alongside the Xtreme 125R, Hero will also reveal the Mavrick 440 at the event, promising a few other surprises.
