British sports car manufacturer Lotus is gearing up to introduce its Emira model in the Indian market. This marks the brand’s second model for the Indian audience after the Eletre SUV. The exclusive unveiling of the Lotus Emira is scheduled for April 2024 at the new Lotus-specific Exclusive Motors showroom in New Delhi.

Powertrain Options:
The Lotus Emira in India will offer three powertrain options. These include a 360hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine sourced from AMG, paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Additionally, a Toyota-sourced 400hp, 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine will be available with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. All configurations feature rear-wheel drive.

Performance:
With a weight as low as 1,405kg, the Emira claims impressive performance figures. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4.5 seconds and boasts a top speed of 290 km/h.

Exterior Design:
In terms of design, the Emira draws significant inspiration from the Lotus Evija hypercar, especially noticeable in the vertical LED headlights and hood scoops. The exterior features prominent air intakes, short overhangs, and distinctive 20-inch alloys wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport tires.

Interior Features:
The interior showcases improved material quality and enhanced fit and finish compared to previous Lotus models. Modern elements include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel. Practical additions such as cup holders, smartphone slots, and bottle holders enhance the overall user experience.

Features:
The Lotus Emira comes equipped with keyless go, automatic wipers, powered wing mirrors, optional front parking sensors, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Safety features include a 10-channel KE sound system, four airbags, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) like adaptive cruise control, anti-collision system, fatigue alert, and more. The Lotus Drivers Pack offers additional features like launch control.

Expected Price and Competition:
Lotus aims to position the Emira competitively with an expected ex-showroom price of under Rs 3 crore. It is anticipated to face competition from higher-spec versions of rivals such as the Porsche 718 Cayman and the Jaguar F-Type Coupe, which are expected to offer compelling alternatives at a similar price point.
