Maruti Suzuki has introduced a special edition of the Jimny in India called the Thunder Edition. Available in both Zeta and Alpha variants, this edition is priced between Rs 10.74 lakh and Rs 14.05 lakh (ex-showroom). The Jimny Thunder Edition features cosmetic enhancements compared to the standard model and is particularly attractive due to its pricing, being Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh cheaper than the equivalent standard Jimny, depending on the variant.
The Thunder Edition comes with notable cosmetic upgrades, including a silver-finished faux bull-bar style front bumper, bonnet trim pieces, metal plates on the fenders, door decals, door cladding, a metal skid plate, door visors, and additional trimming on the wing mirror caps. The exterior details closely resemble the ‘Summit Seeker’ package offered for the regular Jimny.
While the interior of the Thunder Edition remains largely unchanged from the standard Jimny, it incorporates cosmetic enhancements from Maruti Suzuki’s accessories list, such as special seat covers.
In terms of mechanics, the Jimny Thunder Edition retains the same specifications as the standard model. It is equipped with the proven 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine, delivering 101 bhp and 134 Nm of peak torque. Buyers can opt for a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, and all variants come with four-wheel drive featuring low range capabilities.
It’s worth noting that the standard Jimny has been available with substantial discounts in recent weeks.
