The inaugural Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL), featuring off-road motorcycle racing, is set to commence this weekend in Pune, Maharashtra. Modeled after franchise-based leagues like the Indian Premier League (IPL) in cricket, the ISRL consists of six teams competing across four categories: 450cc International, 250cc International, 250cc India & Asia, and 85cc India & Asia.
With riders from both India and abroad, the competition promises thrilling action across three rounds. At the end of the series, the rider and team accumulating the highest points will claim the championship title.
The six participating teams include Gujarat Trailblazers, BB Racing, SG Speed Racers, Bigrock Motorsports, Mohite’s Racing Team, and Reise Motorsports, each supported by prominent figures in motorsport. Notably, multiple car rally champion Gaurav Gill is associated with Team Gujarat Trailblazers, while Bigrock Motorsports is owned by Indian motorsport icon and Dakar finisher CS Santosh.
The rider lineup boasts a mix of seasoned veterans and emerging talents. French Supercross Racing Champion Thomas Ramette will represent Reise Motorsport in the 450cc class, while promising young talents like Ikshan Shanbhag from Team Bigrock Motorsports will compete in the 250cc Indian and Asia mix category. The ISRL also provides a platform for budding talents, with some riders in the 85cc Junior category as young as 10-12 years old, showcasing their speed and agility.
Following Pune, the series will head to Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and conclude in Delhi. Fans can witness the races by purchasing tickets online or tuning in to live broadcasts on Sports 18 or via the Jio Cinema app on mobile devices. Races are scheduled to begin at 7pm.
