The Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 is set to debut the Field Explorer Concept derived from the Honda WR-V. Changes are expected to be primarily cosmetic, with a focus on off-road enhancements. The showcased SUV, named the WR-V Field Explorer Concept, features noticeable alterations, including a distinct front grille with the Honda logo, three pilot lights, yellow-lit fog lamps, and additional black cladding on the bumper for a more robust appearance.
The sides of the concept vehicle are adorned with chunkier cladding on the side sills, blacked-out silver cladding along the lower doors, and black-finished wheels. The rough and rugged aesthetics are further emphasized by smoked-out headlamps, black trim elements, and a roof-mounted carrier. Although details about the rear are limited, expectations include a sturdier bumper design and possibly smoked tail lamps.
In terms of powertrain, Honda is likely to maintain the front-wheel-drive 1.5-liter petrol engine from the standard SUV without significant updates.
Alongside the WR-V Field Explorer Concept, Honda plans to showcase various concept vehicles from its global portfolio at the 2024 Auto Salon. The Red Bull RB19 F1 car is also scheduled to make an appearance at the Honda display. The Tokyo Auto Salon is scheduled to take place from January 12 to 14, 2024.
Recently, Honda unveiled the new WR-V for the Japanese market, known as the Elevate in India. The Japan-spec SUV, set to be available in early 2024, shares a striking resemblance with its Indian counterpart, featuring minor interior differences such as an all-black cabin and variations in offered features.
